Western School District One to One Technology Initiative
Technology has become an increasingly critical educational tool here at Western School District. We see great potential for its use in the learning process as we seek to meet our mission.
With so many invaluable resources moving online, student access is essential to the learning process. Teaching students to become good digital citizens by guiding them to appropriately use technology is crucial in this electronic age. These skills will easily translate into higher education and the real world they will soon enter.
Through a Bond Issue that was passed in February 2012, we are now able to upgrade our technology to allow every student access to educational tools inside and outside of the classroom. Our partnership with Jackson County Intermediate School District has given us the support we need to make this vision become a reality.

Bringing technology into the classroom
The One to One Technology Initiative was successfully piloted by 56 students in two sixth grade classrooms at the middle school in November of 2012 with laptops. We rolled out the 1:1 program to the rest of the middle school students in mid February - mid March. In the fall of 2013, we issued an iPad to every student 6-12. Elementary classrooms are utilizing a mixture of PCs, MacBook Airs® and iPads® to help them learn to use various types of technology in an educational setting.
By allowing students access to greater technology resources, we will equip them with the skills they need to be successful in the 21st century, and beyond.
