Impact on Students
How does teaching in a 1:1 Technology Initiative really impact learning? Many Administrators, Educators, K-12 Teachers and Experts weigh in on this subject.
When students have the same device we level the playing field and offer access to a world of knowledge. Allowing students to create (rather than memorize and then regurgitate information) many studies have found that retention improves. Each student has an unique perspective which shines when they are allowed to create a news broadcast, movie, podcast or other visual presentation of their project. No longer are students simply typing reports, they are illustrating and connecting the dots to substantiate that they fully understand the meaning of the text they write.
When students collaborate, they learn more than just the material. They learn communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that all translate to 21st century employability skills. By engaging through the use of technology, we are moving toward a world where teachers no longer lecture, but facilitate the learning process.
