The Bond Issue
The community of Western School District passed a Bond Issue in February 2012 that included funding for our One to One Technology Initiative. Western School District has always been a leader in technology and this Initiative will help us continue on that course.
When students use technology in the classroom, they are more engaged in learning. By totally immersing students into the full range of technology, they will make greater strides in learning and retaining information. Imagine creating a podcast with their group, rather than typing up a book report, or presenting a Keynote that includes music they have composed, video they recorded and photos they took. The possibilities are limited only by their imagination. Several case studies have been done documenting that when students "experience" the subject through technology it deepens their interest and engagement, resulting in better retention.
